Abstract

Hepatic metastases are usually multinodular, but some solitary nodules exist. On the other hand, multiple nodules may be so small as to give the appearance of infiltration. The ultrasonographic manifestations of metastases are protean; their detailed analysis requires numerous hepatic sections with different orientations. Such examination is best accomplished using real-time apparatus with high resolution. The diagnosis of metastases is made using two types of pathologic signs: abnormalities of contour and abnormalities of texture.
