Abstract

As Already Indicated, the aorta is the first structure one looks for in the abdomen. It is seen as a tubular structure in midsagittal sections (Figs. 4.1, 4.2) and its pulsations are easily visible. At the same time, other structures, both vascular and visceral, are seen to dance to the beat of the heart. The aorta narrows gradually toward its bifurcation (Fig.4.1), i.e., as it passes between the levels of T12 and L4. The posterior aortic wall is practically indistinguishable from the spine on which it rests. (Figs. 4.1, 4.2).
