The Van der Waals Equation

Abstract

In this chapter we shall show how a computer can help us to gain a deeper understanding of a simple equation of physics and to test the agreement between theory and experiment. We consider the van der Waals gas equation. It is obtained from the ideal gas equation by including corrections for real gases.
