Zusammenfassung
Der Herzmuskel besteht aus individuellen Herzmuskelzellen, die etwa 11 um breit und ungefähr 50 Jim lang sind. Die normale Breite der Herzmuskelzellen ist beim Menschen und bei Säugern verschiedenster Größe, wie Ratte, Hund oder Wal, ziemlich konstant, während ihre Länge stärker schwanken kann. Zusammenfassende Darstellungen der submikroskopischen Morphologie des Herzmuskels, die den cellulären Aufbau berücksichtigen, finden sich u.a. bei Poche (1958b), Meessen (1959), Ruska (1960), Meessen U. Poche (1963), David (1963), Ruska (1964), Caesar (1969), Hecht (1970), Poche U. Nienhaus (1970) und Poche (1971).
