Abstract

External beam radiation therapy has been used successfully to treat primary and metastatic neoplasms of the globe and orbit. Depending upon tumor location and extent, adequate treatment with sparing of the lens can be accomplished but requires meticulous technique. Many field arrangements have been described for unilateral and bilateral disease. Isodose distributions for several of the more commonly employed techniques are presented for direct comparison. Particle beam techniques and plaque isodose distributions are discussed in Chaps. 6 and 7, and 4, 5, 35, 36, and 37, respectively (this volume).
