Nephron and Collecting Duct Structure in the Kidney, Rat

Part of the book series: Monographs on Pathology of Laboratory Animals ((LABORATORY))

Abstract

The rat kidney is a unipapillary kidney. In histologic sections the different regions of this kidney are well discernible, since the tubules as well as the blood vessels are arranged in a regular zonal pattern. The renal cortex, as a whole, is cupshaped, with inverted margins, and surrounds the renal medulla.
