Chairing Panels, Seminars and Consensus Conferences

  • Chapter

Abstract

Scholars are frequently called upon to chair panel discussions, to moderate or conduct seminars involving large numbers of peers, or guide the deliberations of consensus conferences. The success and productivity of any of these meetings depend on the expertise, tact, and wisdom of the chairperson, the specialized knowledge and communications skills of the principal participants, and the care and thought put into the planning and organization of the meeting.
