Zusammenfassung
Allgemein wird angenommen, daß Cade 1949 die antimanische Wirkung von Lithium entdeckte. Tatsächlich jedoch war er ein Wiederentdecker, denn die Lithiumsalze wurden bereits 50 Jahre früher sowohl für die akute Manie-Behandlung als auch für die Prophylaxe der Depression eingesetzt (Johnson u. Amdisen 1983).
