Zusammenfassung
Fehlbildungen der Gliedmaßen kommen entweder isoliert oder in Kombination mit anderen Skelettoder Organfehlbildungen vor. In vielen Fällen ist die Ätiologie solcher Erscheinungen genetisch oder exogen bedingt. Die Thalidomidembryopathie, mit Entwicklung von verschiedenen Typen von Phokomelien ist das klassische Beispiel eines exogen verursachten Fehlbildungs-Syndromes. Auch bestimmte Viruserkrankungen während der Schwangerschaft oder intrauterine mechanische Einwirkungen auf den Embryo, können verschiedenartige Fehlbildungen der Gliedmaßen herbeiführen. Nicht alle Gliedmaßenfehlbildungen lassen sich jedoch auf eine genetische oder exogene Ursache zurückführen, bei einer großen Anzahl bleiben die ätiologischen Ursachen unbekannt.
