Zusammenfassung
Justus Liebig soll gesagt haben, der Seifenverbrauch sei ein Maßstab für die Kultur eines Volkes. Sicher ist, daß der Verbrauch an Seifen und Kosmetika Auskunft über den Lebensstandard eines Volkes gibt. So wurden in Deutschland 1936 noch ca. 200000 t Seife hergestellt. 1949 ging (zwangsweise) der Verbrauch auf 75000 t zurück, um 1950 wieder auf 120000t zu steigen.
