Zusammenfassung
Die Exkavation und Atrophie der Papille sind als Spätzeichen des Glaukoms seit der Erfindung des Augenspiegels bekannt. Der Wert der Papillenbeobachtung wurde in neuester Zeit durch die stereoskopische Photographie wesentlich gesteigert. Mit dieser Methode lassen sich individuelle Veränderungen im Laufe der Zeit sicher erkennen. Beim Spiegeln im umgekehrten Bild sind die Beobachterschwankungen sehr beträchtlich, die Befunde auch bei Geübten also sehr unsicher. Etwas besser, aber immer noch unsicher, sind die Befunde bei Untersuchung im aufrechten Bild bei nicht erweiterter Pupille. Am sichersten urteilt man stereoskopisch bei erweiterter Pupille und Untersuchung an der Spaltlampe. Man kann diese Untersuchung sogleich an die Gonioskopie anschließen.
