Zusammenfassung
Der Gastrointestinaltrakt ist das größte endokrine Organ des Körpers. Er spielt auch in der Geschichte der Endokrinologie eine Rolle, da das Konzept der chemischen Messenger oder sog. Hormone von Bayliss und Starling 1902 entwickelt wurde, als sie das Sekretin entdeckten. (Übersicht bei [34]).
