Pathogenesis of Superolateral Types d1) and d2) Osteoarthritis
In our daily practice we are faced with cases of OA of the hip in which the deformation of the joint is different both in gravity and in shape from one patient to another. People in middle age who have practised heavy sports, had heavy jobs or are overweight are frequently affected by superolateral type d) OA (classification: Bombelli 1979) (Fig. 312). This particular type of OA affects hips which originally were anatomically perfect and have allowed most of their owners to enjoy very active sports during their lives.
