Abstract

In the preceding chapters the static and dynamic functions of a normal hip have been described. The author (BOMBELLI 1976, 1979) has stated how a necessary condition for normal function in the hip joint is that the orientation of the WBS be horizontal (Fig. 50 p. 38). Only when this is the case are the component forces of R (P R and Q R ) and of R1 (P and Q) equal and opposite. This is because force R is always resolved into vertical and horizontal components (P R and Q R respectively) independently of the inclination of the WBS (Fig. 25).
