Hemmung der DNS- und RNS-Synthese durch Erzeugung von Querverbindungen zwischen den Nukleinsäurefäden. Im Unterschied zu den anderen alkylierenden Substanzen besitzen die Nitrosoharnstoffe die besondere Eigenschaft, die Blut-Hirn-Schranke passieren zu können.
