Die Lagerung der Patienten und das weitere Vorgehen im einzelnen werden anhand einiger Untersuchungbeispiele beschrieben. Die Exploration des oberen Abdomens vollzieht sich jedoch im großen und ganzen immer in gleicher Weise.
