Abstract
In this chapter we study the available bubble materials and the techniques for tailoring their properties to match device requirements. The major emphasis is on crystalline films which are grown on nonmagnetic garnet substrates by liquid phase epitaxy. In addition, we consider in some depth both crystalline hexaferrites and amorphous rare-earth transition metal films. Orthoferrites will be mentioned only to give literature references. The rationale for this relative emphasis is revealed by Figs. 6.1, 2.
