Zusammenfassung
Systohsche Hypertonie beim äheren Patienten ist ein weit verbreitetes khnisches Problem, das den Arzt vor schwerwiegende Therapiefragen stellt. Mit einer stetig wachsenden Bevölkerung über dem Alter von 50 Jahren nimmt auch das Ausmaß des Problems zu. Neuere epidemiologische Studien haben gezeigt, daß systohsche Hypertonie ein wichtiger Risikofaktor für schwere kardiovaskuläre Komphkationen ist. Jedoch bleiben die Vorzüge einer Behandlung dieser Störung ungewiß, ebenso wie die beste Methode einer Blutdrucksenkung noch nicht eindeutig feststeht. Diese Arbeit wird einen Überblick über einen Teil der zu diesem Thema zur Verfügung stehenden Information geben und unsere persönliche Einstehung zu seiner Handhabung darlegen.
