Zusammenfassung

Bis vor 10 Jahren galt ein arterieller Bluthochdruck im Säuglings- und Kindesalter als sehr selten. In den letzten Jahren mehren sich jedoch die Hinweise darauf, daß eine primäre Hypertonie bei Kindern und Jugendlichen viel häufiger vorhanden ist als ursprünglich angenommen [42, 60, 67, 72, 83, 113, 129, 130, J. Loggie, zit. n. 65]. Bis in die jüngste Zeit wurde ein erhöhter Blutdruck bei Kindern, wenn überhaupt entdeckt, häufig ignoriert oder mit der untersuchungsbedingten Erregung des Kindes abgetan. Darüberhinaus waren die Möglichkeiten zur Differentialdiagnose und Therapie in dieser Altersgruppe nur begrenzt verfügbar bzw. anwendbar. Die heute vorhandenen wesentlich verbesserten Untersuchungsverfahren, die unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen bereits im Säuglingsalter durchführbar sind, wie z. B.
