Zusammenfassung
Obgleich man von höheren Organismen mit Recht sagen kann, daß sich im Grunde nicht einmal zwei Individuen vollkommen gleichen, gilt nichtsdestoweniger, daß solche Individuen Gruppen sehr ähnlicher Typen zu bilden pflegen. Darüber hinaus besteht zwischen zwei Gruppen im allgemeinen eine scharfe Diskontinuität. Es ist allgemein üblich, eine solche Gruppe als eine „Species“ zu bezeichnen.
