Zusammenfassung

Die medizinische Mikrobiologie als Diagnostik beschäftigt sich mit der ätiologischen Diagnose von Infektionskrankheiten, indem sie die Krankheitserreger isoliert und typisiert sowie immunologische Reaktionen des Patienten (Antikörper, Hautreaktivität) untersucht. Ihr Aufgabengebiet umfaßt ferner die vernünftige Lenkung der antimikrobieüen Therapie auf der Basis von Laboratoriumsuntersuchungen.
