Zusammenfassung
50% der soliden kindlichen Geschwülste sind Hirntumoren. Sie können — nach histologischen Kriterien — maligne oder benigne sein, wobei histologisch zwar benigne Hirntumoren aufgrund ihrer Lage und chirurgischen Unzugänglichkeit wie Malignome verlaufen können. Mehr als 20% der Hirngeschwülste sind Metastasen extrazerebral gelegener Tumoren. Dabei kommen als Primärlokalisation die Lungen, die Mammae, das Kolon und die Haut (malignes Melanom) in erster Linie in Frage, während andere Primärtumoren nur ausnahmsweise in Betracht gezogen werden müssen.
