Abstract

Earlier (see p. 4) the importance of physical parameters in the reconstruction of ancient environments was discussed. Primary sedimentary structures and textures of a sediment are the major features that provide information about the medium and mode of transport (by ice, water, or wind) and energy conditions at the time of deposition. Energy conditions include depth of water, velocity of flow, turbulence, wind velocity, etc. The study of physical parameters can be divided into two groups.
