Abstract
This chapter deals with some mathematical tools that are required for the study of biological rhythms. The best known rhythms are seasonal variations, menstruation, daily cycles, breathing and heart beat. It is typical of rhythms that the same or nearly the same pattern is repeated from cycle to cycle. Phenomena of this type are also called periodic.
