Abstract

The fundamental techniques of ASIF are laid down in detail in the Manual of Internal Fixation (Müller et al., 1969). Since these provide the basis for the use of the SFS, extracts of this book are given here:

Rigid internal fixation is the prerequisite for rapid and economic fracture healing, as well as for functional postoperative treatment. Rigid internal fixation can be achieved by either compression or intra-medullary nailing.
