Zusammenfassung
Die Verwertung der Sonnenstrahlung (Photosynthese) sowie die Reaktion von organischen Substraten mit molekularem Sauerstoff (Respiration) sind die wichtigsten Prozesse für die Energieversorgung der Zelle. Der Weg, der bei diesen Energie-Konversionen beschritten wird, basiert in beiden Fällen auf dem gleichen Prinzip: der Kopplung von Elektronen-Transfers mit der Phosphorylierung von ADP zu ATP; die chemische Energie oder, korrekter ausgedrückt, das Potential einer bestimmten Verbindung wird verwendet, um chemische Energie in anderer Form aufzubauen bzw. zu speichern.
