Zusammenfassung
Der Zellkern kommt in nahezu allen Zellen höherer Organismen vor. Nur einige hochspezialisierte Zellen, wie die Erythrozyten der Mammalia (Säugetiere) haben ihn im Laufe ihrer Entwicklung sekundär verloren. Ohne Zellkern sind viele einzellige Organismen wie Bakterien und Blaugrüne Algen. Andere Einzeller wiederum wie die Protozoa (Paramecium, Amöba etc.) und einzellige Pflanzen wie z.B. Chlorella besitzen einen Kern. Organismen ohne Kern nennt man Prokaryonten, jene mit Zellkern Eukaryonten.
