Die Genetik oder Vererbungslehre befaßt sich mit der stofflichen Natur der Erbfaktoren, mit der Lokalisation der Erbfaktoren innerhalb der Zellen verschiedener Organisationsstufen des Lebendigen, mit der Weitergabe der Erbfaktoren von Zelle zu Zelle, von Organismus zu Organismus, von Generation zu Generation, mit der Realisation der Erbanlagen während der Individualentwicklung und mit der bleibenden Veränderung der Erbfaktoren durch Mutation.
