Abstract

In this chapter we present a condensed version of those properties of Hilbert Spaces which are basic to optimization theory in our view. A more leisurely presentation of most of the material may be found in many books including those listed in the bibliography. Some of it is scattered. The illustrative examples that we provide are drawn either from information theory or control theory.
