Zusammenfassung

Die unkritische medikamentöse Schmerzbehandlung durch Ärzte und Lajen wird heute mit Recht streng verurteilt. Sie spielt bedauerlicherweise eine große Rolle. Mein Fachkollege Herken hat 1962 bei einer statisti-schen Auswertung von 326000 Rezepten, welche 100 praktische Ärzte in Berlin bei fast 74000 Patienten im ersten Quartal eines Jahres ver-schrieben, gefunden, daß Analgetika mit 18,4% neben Herz- und Kreis-laufmitteln mit 17,2% an erster Stelle standen. Gewiß hat es sich dabei oft um keine strenge Indikation gehandelt. Die Überfülle von syntheti-schen Analgetika und von meist überflüssigen Kombinationspräparaten, die im Handel mit viel Reklame — auch bei Laien — angepriesen werden, verführt allzu leicht zu ihrem Gebrauch und Mißbrauch, zur sog. „Tablettensucht“.
