Zusammenfassung
Therapieschäden — Diseases of Progress. Die Worte sind Symbole einer polar sich gegenüberstehenden Bewertung. In der alten Welt fürchten wir die Nebenwirkungen. In der neuen Welt ist man über den Fortschritt beglückt. Jedem Therapieschaden haftet eine Tragik an, da er eine Hoffnung zerschlägt. Die Frage lautet: Wie häufig sind unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen in bezug auf ein bestimmtes Medikament, auf eine bestimmte Krankheit, auf ein bestimmtes Syndrom ? Ist die Gefährdung, in Beziehung zum therapeutischen Nutzen, eine tragbare, eine zumutbare ? Die Antwort ist verschieden, je nachdem ein diagnostisches, prophylaktisches oder therapeutisches Problem zur Diskussion steht. Die Antwort kann in bezug auf Diagnostik und Prophylaxe eindeutig gegeben werden, dagegen in bezug auf die Therapie nur unbestimmt und verklauselt.
