Die malignen Schilddrüsentumoren

Zusammenfassung

Man kann damit rechnen, daß unter einer Million Menschen stets 20 bis 30 Schilddrüsenmalignome bekannt sind (2, 127). Im einzelnen ist die Frequenz weitgehend von geographischen Faktoren abhängig und in Gebieten mit Kropfendemien besonders hoch (7, 73, 139). Zum Zeitpunkt der Diagnose beträgt das Lebensalter durchschnittlich 50 Jahre (73), doch kommen differenzierte Carcinome nicht selten bei Kindern und Jugendlichen vor (12, 143). Während von allen anderen Schilddrüsenkrankheiten stark bevorzugt Frauen befallen werden, ist bei den Malignomen der Anteil des männlichen Geschlechts ungewöhnlich groß (96, 104, 126, 134).
