Seit dem Jahre 1930 sind uns — vor allem durch die Untersuchungen von Sørensen, Hewitt, Rimington und Macheboeuf — neben den bis dahin bekannten Eiweißkörpern wie Albumin, Pseudo- und Euglobulin sowie Fibrinogen auch die Glyko -und Lipo-Proteide bekannt.
