Intraoperative electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring and clinical outcome in carotid surgery

These is no doubt, that electroencephalography can show variations during carotid endarterectomy before and after clamping. Many authors, especially in the English speaking literature have done a lot of work to prove that it is worthwhile to monitor the patients during carotid endarterectomy; however, the native EEG may be difficult to interpret at least for vascular surgeons while a spectral arrangement might be easier to interpret.
