Zusammenfassung
Die perinatale Mortalität hat in den letzten 30 Jahren deutlich abgenommen und liegt derzeit bei 5,8 Promille. Deutschland rangiert damit an vorderster Stelle und hat sogar die Skandinavischen Länder überholt. Die Rate an Zerebralparesen (ZP) bei Kindern ist hingegen gleichgeblieben und beträgt nach wie vor 2 auf 1000 (8, 9,18,19, 33, 36). Daß ZP nicht gleichermaßen abgenommen haben wie die Mortalität spricht dafür, daß die Mehrzahl kindlicher Hirnschäden nicht unter der Geburt entstehen, sondern bereits vorher im Verlauf der Schwangerschaft (2, 21, 23, 29).
