Spektroskopische Verfahren beschäftigen sich mit der Messung des Ausmaßes, mit dem elektromagnetische Strahlung (Strahlungsenergie) durch Materie absorbiert oder emittiert wird. Das Ausmaß der Absorption oder Emission elektromagnetischer Strahlung ändert sich mit ihrer Wellenlänge; die Darstellung des Absorptionsoder Emissionsbetrages als Funktion der Wellenlänge wird Absorptionsoder Emissionsspektrum genannt.
