Zusammenfassung
Nachdem im Laufe der Zeit viele ursprünglich als „primäre Manifestationsursachen“ (z. B. Fettsucht, Schwangerschaft, Traumata, Infektionskrankheiten, Leber- und innersekretorische Erkrankungen) des genuinen Diabetes mellitus diskutierte Faktoren jetzt nur als „auslösende ätiologische Faktoren“ angesehen werden, gilt heute fast übereinstimmend ein sog. „Erbfaktor“ als Basis für weitere Überlegungen.
