Zusammenfassung

Die pathogenetischen Zusammenhänge des menschlichen Diabetes mellitus konnten durch Modellversuche lediglich auf dem Sektor der sog. „sekundären“ Diabetesformen zu einem tiefen Verständnis der Stoffwechselstörung führen. Der „sekundäre“ Diabetes des Menschen wird definitionsgemäß

  1. 1.

    nach Zerstörung oder Exstirpation des Pankreas mit nachfolgendem absoluten Insulinmangel (nach Pankreatektomie, nach Zerstörung des Pankreas durch Entzündung, Trauma, Karzinom, evtl. Arteriosklerose und primäre Siderophilie),

  2. 2.

    nach Überproduktion insulinantagonistischer Hormone mit nachfolgendem relativen Insulinmangel (bei Akromegalie, bei Morbus Cushing, bei Cushingsyndrom, bei Phäochromozytom und nach Applikation von STH, ACTH, NNR-Hormonen und Glukagon) und

  3. 3.

    nach Herabsetzung der Glukosetoleranz im Rahmen von Lebererkrankungen (Fettleber, Fettzirrhose) beobachtet.
