Zusammenfassung
Im System der Organismen werden die Arten (= Spezies) als Grundeinheiten verwendet. Obwohl sie reale Einheiten der Natur sind, ist ihre Definition und gegenseitige Abgrenzung bis heute ungeklärt. Derzeit gibt es unterschiedliche Systeme der Organismen, die einerseits theoriefrei sind (Numerische Phänetik, Transformierte Kladistik), andererseits auf der Evolutionstheorie basieren (Evolutionäre Systematik, Phylogenetische Systematik). Infolgedessen gibt es auch unterschiedliche Artdefinitionen. Das sogenannte “biologische Artkonzept” kann jedoch in keinem Fall als basales Element eines Systems Verwendung finden, da es den Universahtätsansprüchen — es muß für alle Organismen gelten — nicht gerecht wird.
