Abstract
Applications, except those dealing with only transient data, need to store data in secondary storage. Some applications also transport objects through Internet or intranet. Both secondary storage and network are serial devices. They can accept series of bytes only. The objects to be stored in a secondary storage or transferred through a network must be serialized. Java provides serializability for programs to serialize objects into byte arrays or files.
