Abstract
Doing genealogical research is similar to seeking the proverbial needle in the haystack. It requires browsing and searching through large amounts of paper looking for the occurrence of names of people and dates to find possible parents, grandparents, nephews, etc. A hindrance can be the fact that some of the papers are in a terrible state or have to be handled with great care to keep them in a fair state. If all the texts and other information could be put into a computer system it would be much easier to search for the right documents and names and dates in them. It might even be possible to ask the computer if two persons were or are related. The related material was delivered as flat ASCII texts in several files. Each of the files contained several parts:
-
Table of contents
-
Inventory (numbered)
-
Footnotes
-
Index (one or more)
-
Introduction
-
Addenda (numbered)
-
Literature listing.
