Quality Assurance in Prehospital Emergency Medicine — Special Problems and Solutions

Summary

Today’s emergency medicine must be characterized first by methods of quality assurance and second by excellent training and planned teamwork. Quality assurance consists of three major, interrelated components: structure, process and outcome. The German emergency medical services with on-board physicians is one of the leading systems of the world, but the qualification and training of its personnel still represents a challenge. Realistic training on megacode and traumacode stations and a standardized concept are for goals the future.

Die Qualität ärzthcher Kompetenz wird durch die drei Faktoren Prozeß-, Struktur-, Ergebnisqualität bestimmt. Für den Bereich der Prozeßquahtät findet sich kein „state-of-the-art standard“ im Sinne eines festdefinierten Algorithmus. Das deutsche Rettungssystem ist in seiner Ausstattung führend, allerdings ergeben sich hinsichtlich der Qualifikation spezielle Anforderungen. Praktischen Fertigkeiten und Kenntnissen müssen an Simulationssystemen trainiert werden, da die Inzidenz von Notfallsituationen zu Ausbildungszwecken nicht ausreichend ist.
