Prospective Documentation Since 1983 Evaluating the Quality of Free Skin Grafts in Burns

Summary

In 345 documented operations on patients with burns, we counted 132 primary and 213 secondary treatments. In addition to depth, expansion, and location of the burn wounds, we found that the functional quality of the free skin grafts depends on the risk factor „infection of the granulated wound“. Split skin grafts in joint regions frequently serve as temporary closure only, changing the open into a closed defect. In restoring the function, late secondary reconstruction sometimes integrated with flaps may be necessary.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 345 Behandlungsfällen, 132 primären und 213 Folgeeingriffen, zeigte sich, daß neben Tiefe, Ausdehnung und Lokalisation der Verbrennung die funktionelle Qualität der freien Hauttransplantate ganz wesentlich abhängig ist von dem speziellen Risikofaktor „infizierte granuherende Wundfläche“. In Gelenkregionen dient die freie Hauttransplantation häufig nur als temporärer Ersatz mit Verwandlung des offenen in einen geschlossenen Defekt. Die funktionsgerechte Wiederherstellung ist nur durch spät sekundäre Rekonstruktion auch mit Lappenplastiken möglich.
