Abstract

In February 1989 the Deutsche Bundespost TELEKOM put on stream the pilot network of its first broadband switching system using fiberoptic cables. Twenty-nine major cities were linked by 16 broadband exchanges. In the first phase, access will be provided to about 1500 Subscribers.
