Zusammenfassung
Sozialpsychologisch begründete Erklärungsansätze und empirische Ergebnisse zur psychischen Abwehr Alkoholabhängiger werden dargestellt. Die Theorie des Selbstwertschutzes kann Abwehr in einer Weise erklären, die empirische Prüfungen ermöghcht. Abwehr läßt sich als psychischer Prozeß in der Auseinandersetzung mit bedrohlichen Wahrnehmungsreizen verstehen. Demgemäß wurde untersucht, ob potentiell bedrohhche Normen und Einstellungen mit Abwehr einerseits und Intention zur Abstinenz andererseits zusammenhängen.
