Zusammenfassung
Dieses Buch handelt von den Chromosomen der Eukaryonten, von ihrem Bau, ihrer Funktion und von den Gesetzmäßigkeiten ihrer Verteilung. Das Verhalten dieser Zellbestandteile in der Mitose, Meiose und Befruchtung wurde bereits in den 70er Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts überwiegend aufgeklärt. Von Anfang an wurde auch die weitgehende Übereinstimmung zwischen Pflanzen und Tieren auf diesem Gebiet festgestellt. Es ist deswegen sinnvoll, die Erkenntnisse aus beiden Gruppen gemeinsam zu betrachten.
