Spatial Diffusion of Information Technology in Sweden

Abstract

It is common knowledge that technical progress is an important element in economic growth and that its contribution to the national growth rate tends to be at least as important as the growth of factor inputs. In Sweden, technical progress is mainly the result of adopting, and adapting innovations generated and also first introduced elsewhere. Analyzing the spatial diffusion of innovations and new techniques thus seems essential for the study of regional growth rate disparities.
