Zusammenfassung
Venöse zerebrale Durchblutungsstörungen werden immer durch Thrombosen der zerebralen Sinus, großen inneren Venen und/oder Brückenvenen verursacht. Anders als bei den Hirnarterien bilden die Hirnvenen (mit Ausnahme der Sinus) ein ausgiebiges, individuell sehr verschiedenes Kollateralsystem, so daß isolierte Thrombosen nicht unbedingt zu einer klinischen Symptomatik führen müssen. Klinisch imponieren meist subakut bis akut aufgetretene Kopfschmerzen, fokale oder meist sekundär generalisierte Krampfanfälle, sowie nach Lokalisation der Thrombose häufig multifokale neurologische Ausfälle. Das Krankheitsbild entwickelt sich langsam progredient oder in einer zweiten Gruppe von Patienten perakut.
