Abstract

The present International Classification of Epilepsies and Epileptic Syndromes [3] makes two major distinctions, one of generalized vs location-related epilepsies and one of idiopathic vs symptomatic epilepsies. Consequently, there are four main groups: idiopathic location-related epilepsies, symptomatic location-related epilepsies, idiopathic generalized epilepsies, and symptomatic generalized epilepsies.
