Realisierung des Breitband-ISDN

Zusammenfassung

Das Konzept der Deutschen Bundespost zur Weiterentwicklung der Fernmeldeinfrastruktur /1/ sieht die Integration von Schmalband-und Breitbanddiensten in einem Breitband-ISDN vor. Dieses Netz ist eine Erweiterung des ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network), dessen Serieneinführung 1988 vorgesehen ist. Im folgenden wird dieses zukünftige Universalnetz für die Telekommunikation beschrieben.

Abstract

The ISDN, which has already been standardized in its principal characteristics, is based on the digitized telephone network with 64-kbit/s channels. This allows voice, text, fixed images and data communication to be integrated beneficially in a single network where the subscriber access network of two-wire copper cables can still be used. Moving images communication, however, calls for considerably higher bit rates ranging from around 1.5 Mbit/s to around 140 Mbit/s depending on quality requirements. Here the most suitable type of subscriber access lines are fiber optic cables, which are capable of transmitting the highest useful bit rates needed. The broadband network evolving from the 64-kbit/s ISDN will initially be equipped to handle individual communication and later distributed communication, for example TV, too. In the following it is referred to as the Broadband ISDN (BB ISDN).
